What Is Water-based Alkyd Coating
Traditional solvent-based alkyd paint employs organic solvents, emits significant odours and fire dangers and does not comply with modern environmental regulations.
This Water-based Alkyd Coating uses pure water instead of organic solvents. Alkyd resin is stably emulsified in water and cured by oxidative cross-linking, which reduces VOC emissions.
It has comparable levelling and high-gloss effect as solvent-based treatments with shorter drying time and lesser toxicity. Meet the mainstream environmental protection requirements, a feasible upgrade for the refurbishment of factories and new development.

Three Core Performance Advantages
1. Environmentally friendly water-based formula
Deionised water carrier, free of mineral spirits, benzene and formaldehyde. VOC less than 100 g/L. EU Deco Directive and EPA limitations. Dilute with clean water max 10%.
2. Bonding & Glossy Finish
ASTM D3359 Class 5B adhesion. Friction resistant hardness H-2H. 80-90 GU gloss with improved levelling and reduced brush strokes.
3. Built-in Rust Resistance (Flash)
Oxidation during curing can be prevented by anti-rust additives, which can produce stable films even with changes in humidity and temperature.
Application & Surface Preparation
Remove rust, scale and grease by sandblasting or polishing to SA2.5 / ST3. Spray to coat evenly. Roller/brush for touch-ups. Do not let the temperature drop below 5°C or humidity exceed 80%. Max dilution 10%.

Q1. What are the main changes compared with solvent based alkyd paint?
A1 : Water as diluent, without organic solvents or additional benzene/formaldehydes . Reduced VOC and odour, no flammability threat.
Q2. What is flash rust and why is anti flash rust important?
A2: Metal surface oxidation during evaporation of water-based coatings. The anti-flash rust formula avoids this fault and stabilises the quality of the film and reduces adhesion failure under fluctuating humidity and temperature.
Q3: Appropriate working settings and equipment?
A3: Steel structures, cranes, mining supports, construction machinery and agricultural vehicles in ISO 12944 C2–C3 mild corrosion conditions.
Q4: Will it work over old existing coatings?

Q5: Do you need a surface pretreatment?
A5: Rust, oil and other impurities must be sandblasted or manually polished to the SA2.5 or ST3 level to allow efficient bonding.
