Product Description

Elastic Texture Coating for Exterior & Interior Walls — Flexible, Crack-Bridging Decorative Finish

JOSME’s Elastic Texture Coating is a water-based architectural finish consisting of a high-performance elastic emulsion combined with additives, fillers and colours. It forms a three-dimensional orange peel pattern and bridges narrow hairline cracks caused by the expansion and contraction of the substrate for both interior and exterior walls. JOSME has been manufacturing architectural coatings for 26 years with total quality control from raw material inspection to finished product testing. Each batch is supplied in export-grade reinforced barrels of 20kg.

What Is Elastic Texture Coating?

The coating forms a flexible barrier between the wall surface and the environment. The elastic acrylic copolymer foundation gives the cured film a high elongation at break (200% to 450%, depending on grade) which allows the film to stretch and recover with the construction substrate throughout multiple heat cycles without rupturing.

Unlike stiff masonry coatings which breakdown under thermal stress, the film retains integrity over hairline cracks and minor movement joints. The layer is also permeable which means it is less likely to blister from trapped interior moisture. It blocks the entry of liquid moisture, but allows water vapour to escape.

Key Product Advantages

Flexibility of Crack-Bridging
Elastic emulsion binder bridges fine fissures caused by substrate movement. Elongation at break 200%–450% (depending on grade), retaining integrity under heat cycling without peeling or splitting.

3D orange peel texture
One pass of the roller creates a uniform orange-peel pattern, creating visual dimension to modern residential, commercial and interior walls.

One-pass application
Texture is produced in a single pass, reducing labour time on site for large projects compared to multi-step techniques.

Custom Colour Matching & Mismatching
Colour support for per-project colours. Colour, finish, packing on request.

Weather and UV resistant
Resistant to UV, acid, alkali and temperature change. With normal outside exposure it resists fading and peeling. Service life is dependent on temperature, substrate and thickness.

Low-VOC Water-Based Obtained China Environmental Labelling and China Green Elastic Texture Coating Certification. JOSME is ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 certified.

Where to Use This Coating

Commercial High Rise Buildings
Facade tension from wind and thermal expansion. The elastic film allows for movement without noticeable cracks on the surface.

Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS)
It is applied over insulation boards, and allows for modest movement at joints between boards, shielding the insulation layer from moisture.

Coastal & High Humidity Environments

Dense elastic sheet protects against moisture and salt spray. Check appropriateness for local exposure categorisation.

Residential & Commercial Facades
Its orange-peel texture makes it ideal for textured finishes on luxury home exteriors, business facades and interior walls.

Quality Control Process

JOSME quality control is used on all phases of production: Incoming material inspection (quality of binder, aggregate particle size), inprocess control (viscosity and consistency for uniform texture), completed Elastic Texture Coating testing (elongation, tensile strength, water resistance).

B2B testing features:

Crack bridging – bridgeable crack width testing (static and dynamic)

Adhesion ASTM D4541 pull-off of cementitious substrates

Accelerated weathering – QUV, xenon arc for colour stability

Water absorption - Karsten Tube moisture exclusion test

Tensile characteristics – ASTM D2370 and EN 1062-7 crack bridging categorisation

Batch-to-batch sample retention maintains colour and performance consistency between repeat orders.

FAQ

Q: How does the orange-peel texture differ from sand-textured finishes?

A: Roller-applied orange-peel has a finer, more uniform grain than coarse-aggregate sand textures. It fits between flat latex and heavy stone-impression surfaces and suits modern facades.

Q: Can it close active structural cracks?

A: No. It bridges static hairline cracks and mild thermal movement cracks within the grade's elongation range. Active structural cracks must first be mechanically stabilized and the joints treated.

Q: Does thin application affect elastic performance?

A: Yes. Crack bridging requires adequate dry film thickness. Below the recommended 0.8 kg/㎡, effective elongation is reduced.

Q: How does application temperature affect results?

A: Above 5°C, humidity below 85% during application and initial curing. Outside these conditions, film formation, adhesion, and texture uniformity are compromised.

Q: What surface preparation is required?

A: The substrate must be sound, clean, dry, and free of loose particles. A suitable primer is generally needed, especially over new cementitious substrates or existing coatings.
