Product Description

Interior Water-Resistant Putty for Moisture-Prone Interiors

JOSME's Interior Water-Resistant Putty is a scientific blend of redispersible polymer powders, natural mineral fillers and inorganic cementitious binders. After being submerged in water, the wet bonding strength remains ≥0.30 MPa. It is designed for long-term humid interior situations such as subterranean garages, baths, hospital areas and balconies. It efficiently avoids the frequent issues of surface powdering, substrate delamination and mold growth that occur on standard gypsum putty. It meets the indoor environmental safety standards because of its low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions and its compliance with JG/T 298 N-type water-resistant putty.

Why Standard Putty Underperforms in Wet Interiors

Conventional gypsum interior putty easily collects moisture from the environment. It will gradually soften, chalk, peel, and even break off surface topcoats in prolonged humid conditions. This issue is often seen in subterranean areas, moist areas of residences, and buildings along the coast with continuously high humidity.

The Interior Water-Resistant Putty uses the white cement, hydrated lime and redispersible polymer powder as inorganic binders. This recipe may be used to produce thick hydrophobic cross-linked structures which might develop strong connections with cement mortar and concrete substrates under osmotic pressure. The whole wall foundation is left intact and the putty layer, once cured, will not soften, swell or blister even being immersed in water for a continuous period of 96 hours.

Typical Application Environments

Basements and underground garages: In limited areas subject to permanent dampness and hydrostatic pressure, the useful life of a typical putty is short.

Healthcare Facilities & Public Institutions: Achieve ultra-low VOC emissions to comply with indoor air quality guidelines.

Kitchens, Bathrooms & Balconies: The main cause of topcoat deterioration in these locations is the wet-dry cycle that occurs over and over again.

Extended use of Interior Water-Resistant Putty gives a solid base, reducing the possibility of topcoat damage.

Coastal and high humidity areas: Moisture resistant base layer prevents wall surfaces from seasonal condensation and moisture degradation in areas with extended periods of relative humidity above 80%.

application

Interior Water-resistant Putty Application Instructions

Applied with a trowel to concrete substrates or clean, firm cement mortar, with a single coating thickness that may be varied between 0.5 and 1.5 mm.

It is particularly used for wall leveling and not for crack healing. For larger gaps, more than 1.5 mm, pre-treat with professional repair mortar to avoid shrinkage cracking of the putty layer.

For substrates with very high porosity, a primer must be used before putty construction to stabilize bonding activity and balance the wall’s absorption of water. Normal drying time is five hours before you may sand and topcoat.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What impact does base whiteness have on the production of latex topcoats?
A1: High whiteness stabilizes topcoat pigment coverage and minimizes multiple coating passes by covering the substrate's initial color variations and small imperfections.

Q2: Why is it more difficult to sand this water-resistant putty than regular putty?
A2: A dense cured structure is formed by the cement and polymer components. The best polishing results are obtained by sanding within 12 to 24 hours after construction.

Q3: Does this product prevent the formation of mold in damp areas?
A3: Compared to regular gypsum putty, the thick alkaline structure is more suited for humid interior spaces because it reduces moisture retention on the wall surface, preventing the formation of mold and fungi.

Q4: Is primer required before using this putty?
A4: It works with the majority of traditional indoor substrates. To regulate water absorption and guaranty consistent bonding strength, primer treatment is only advised for very porous walls.
