JOSME’s transparent waterproof coating is produced with water-based acrylic solution, which dries into colourless hydrophobic protective sheets. It adheres well to tiles, stone, cement and old paint surfaces. This product is suitable for direct rehabilitation construction, while standard waterproofing products need to be demolished and repaired. It is suitable for daily rehabilitation projects with standard consumption of 0.1-0.15 kg/㎡ and compatibility of roller and brush construction and does not influence normal site use.

What Is Transparent Waterproof Coating?

Transparent Waterproof Coating is a liquid applied waterproof membrane based on modified acrylic emulsion and functional additives. When fully cured, it produces dense, crystal transparent, hydrophobic films that seal water seepage channels in tile grout lines, stone micro-pores and cement fractures.

This translucent coating will not obscure the existing textures of walls and floors like cementitious and bituminous waterproof coatings. This preserves the original look of the building surfaces, making it ideal for repair projects where existing ornamental layers need to be maintained.

Q1: What are the differences between this product and traditional waterproof membranes?

A1: This product forms a transparent protective film without changing surface decoration. It can be constructed directly on existing tiles, stone and paint layers without demolition, effectively reducing renovation labor and construction disruption.

Q2: Can thin transparent films block accumulated water seepage?

A2: The dense cured film fits closely with substrates to seal tile grout gaps and stone micro-pores thoroughly. Its waterproof performance depends on film density and bonding tightness, not film thickness, achieving stable water blocking effect.

Q3: Why does the coating turn white after rain in some cases?

A3: The surface whitening is due to moisture invasion into the film during inadequate cure. The cross-linked acrylic formula generates a hydrophobic dense coating fast which can reduce such problems with normal construction and enough curing time.

Q4: Can I apply over wet substrates?

A4: Construction shall occur with the substrate moisture content less than 8%. Use on clean and dry surfaces and allow thorough curing before water contact to provide solid bonding and waterproof performance.
