Intumescent Steel Fireproof Coating JOSME develops a water base emulsion fire proof material which is mixed with flame retardants, foaming agents, charring agents and synthetic emulsion. It expands quickly under high temperature fire conditions and forms a porous sponge carbon layer to restrict heat transfer to steel substrates. The product is applicable to load-bearing sections such as building steel beams, steel columns and floor slabs of Class I structures. It can exceed the fire resistance standard within 2 hours and keep low VOC content for compliant construction.
Intumescent Steel Fireproof Coating is a kind of fire protection material of reactive film type. In a fire scenario the steel structures heat up and the coating chemically expands to produce a carbon layer with a limited thermal conductivity which retards the temperature rise of the steel and the structural failure point of 550°C.
Unlike thick cement based fireproof coatings, this thin film material contributes little to the load on steel buildings and maintains a clean surface finish. The water-based recipe produces no harmful pollutants during building and curing, facilitating factory pre-coating, and on-site brushing & spraying construction.

Thin-Film Fire Protection: Thin dry film provides fire resistance up to 2 hours; extended char layer insulates well without significant build-up.
Thermal Expansion Reactio: Foaming and charring chemicals react under heat to provide a stable porous barrier that lowers heat conduction to steel.
Stable Steel Substrate Adhesion: Synthetic emulsion adheres reliably to anti-rust prepared steel, providing long-term stability in indoor situations.
Different construction methods: airless spraying, roller and brush; water-based solution for easy water cleaning, factory pre-coating and on-site work.
Low Odour, Eco-Friendly Formula: No harmful pollutants emitted; low odour is ideal for enclosed steel areas with minimal ventilation.
This fireproof coating is widely used for fire protection of various building steel load-bearing components, covering multiple project types:
Steel beams, columns, floor slabs and roof load-bearing members of Class I buildings Spherical grid frames and other large-span load-bearing steel structures Steel structure renovation projects requiring fire protection upgrade High-rise commercial buildings with requirements for exposed steel appearance Building structures with fire resistance limit requirements within 2 hours
Both thin type and ultra-thin type are available for selection. The ultra-thin type is more suitable for exposed steel structures with strict surface appearance requirements.

Substrate pretreatment and construction environment directly affect the final fire protection effect. All construction conditions must meet the following standards:
Keep steel surfaces clean, flat and dry with substrate moisture content below 10% and pH value no more than 10%. An anti-rust primer must be applied on steel substrates before fireproof coating construction.
On-site construction temperature shall be controlled at 5–35°C with relative humidity ≤80% and sufficient ventilation. Stir the coating evenly before use, add an appropriate amount of clean water for dilution if the viscosity is too high, and clean construction tools with water in time after operation to prevent residue hardening.
JOSME implements full-process quality control, including raw material incoming inspection, production process monitoring and finished product performance testing. Batch sample retention is adopted to stabilize Intumescent Steel Fireproof Coating color, particle size and overall performance for bulk orders.
Physical samples can be provided for project performance verification before mass production. The brand holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001 system certifications, as well as China Environmental Labelling Certification and China Green Product Certification.

Standard products can be delivered within 2–3 working days. Custom formula and color matching orders take 7–15 working days for production.
All products adopt export-grade reinforced packaging to avoid leakage, layer separation and mechanical damage during ocean transportation. We support sea, air and land freight solutions to adapt to different order volumes and delivery destinations.

Q1. How can intumescent coating protect steel from fire?
A1: Expands on heating to give a porous insulating char coating which retards the temperature rise in the steel and delays failure of the structure.
Q2: What are the differences between the thin type and the ultra thin kind?
A2: Same fire rating, thin type for concealed steelwork, ultra-thin type for exposed steelwork requiring a thinner finish.
Q3: Can it be applied on top of existing paint?
A3: Compatibility test is required beforehand only if the primer is compatible and well bound.
Q4: Water-based or solvent-based?
A4: Interior use, water based, minimal VOC/odor. Solvent-based: quicker drying, more moisture resistant, for semi-exposed areas.
Q5: Is it anti-corrosive?
A5: It’s fire-proof. The anti-corrosion is equipped with corresponding anti-rust priming system.
